Halloween...Down...Thanksgiving Here We Come!

It is so hard to believe that Thanksgiving is only 12 days away! This fall weather has been fabulous! We have had some chilly days, but mostly they have been in the 70s to even low 80! The leaves are the most amazing red and the nights are crisp.

Halloween!

Lijah had a great Halloween. He decided he wanted to be Bumble Bee again this year and the costume from last year still fit. The street went all out as usual. It is funny to see all the cars filling up the pool parking lot coming to our street just to trick or treat. We went through 5 huge bags of candy and probably could have given out more. Lijah had us so tickled...he kept running back and forth and dancing in front of our houses. It went on for over an hour! The funny thing is he didn't even have that much candy, I think it was all excitement.

We also went with Julianna to the YMCA Trunk or Treat. They had a lot of good activities, but it was mostly for older kids. They had spooky story time which the kids loved.

I tried to get some pictures of him trick or treating, but it was difficult.

Annual Stanhope Fire Department BBQ

The first weekend in November is always the Stanhope Fire Department Annual BBQ. It is always so much fun to see Dad's old classmates, ladies Grandma Strickland used to teach and other Stanhope locals. The food was incredible as always. This year, one of my co-workers was there and her husband was cooking, it was great to see them.

We took pictures of Lijah on the fire trucks last year, so of course, we had to do the same this year. He was being very silly with his hat, he is wearing it very similar to Papa :)

Parent/Teacher Conferences

We love Montessori school! Lijah is doing so well this year. He has really improved on his fine motor skills and his handwriting is beautiful! Ms. Janet said he was starting to learn addition and subtraction and has really grasped the practical life area. Of course, Lijah LOVES his playground time. His friends are his world at Montessori school, my little social butterfly.

Airport Park and A Show of Virtues

What a busy Saturday we had! One of Lijah's favorite places in the world is the airport (he obviously did take after me there). RDU has a great area called Observation Park. You can hear the Air Traffic Control Tower and the planes take off and land right in front of the observation deck.

After our visit to Observation Park, we headed to the NC Musuem of Art. They have wonderful children's activities, one being monthly performances. This month was the Grey Seal Puppets and A Show of Virtues. The performance was inspired by The Children's Book of Virtues and included the stories of "The Little Hero of Holland", "The Tortoise and the Hare", "Please" and "Why Frog and Snake Never Play Together". The performance was funny, enlightening and extremely entertaining.

I was especially interested in this performance because it so closely relates to the monthly virtues we have been learning in church. I believe it is never too young to begin showing him the character traits that are most admired by society.
