Family Visit
In early July, Josh’s sister and her family came to visit us all the way from Kansas. It was six wonderful, fun-filled days! We started off with a 2 day trip to the beach. We drove down on Friday and spent the whole day lounging on Kure Beach.
We went out to a fabulous dinner at the Bluewater Grill along the Intracoastal Waterway. The scenery and food were perfect!
We then ventured to downtown Wilmington, ate some ice cream and walked along the water. They had a live band playing so it was packed! The atmosphere was terrific with carriage rides, people watching and a view of the Battleship.
We woke up early Saturday and went to visit the Battleship North Carolina. Luckily, it wasn’t too hot yet, so it was bearable. We finished the beach trip with several more hours playing on Carolina Beach. But, our day didn’t stop there! After arriving back to Raleigh that evening, we went to Shucker’s for dinner, yummy! We sat on the patio with a nice breeze, listened to a performer sing Jimmy Buffett songs and then watched the Fireworks. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect evening.
Sunday was another early rise and shine! We rented a pontoon boat at Kerr Lake for the entire day. Kerr Lake is absolutely beautiful. There are beaches all along the lake where we could stop and explore. The water is crystal blue so it didn’t feel like a dirty lake. We went for boat rides, swam but most importantly relaxed and enjoyed each other’s company.

Lijah had so much fun spending time with his cousins. Holden and Lijah quickly became best friends and played so wonderfully together.
Hopefully, in the future, these trips will be closer together and we can do more fun family trips!
Nana and Papa
In the 2nd week in July, Nana and Papa officially became North Carolinians! We are so excited they are only an 8 minute drive from us, but who is timing it. They are still buried under boxes and are working hard to make their new house into a home.
YMCA
Lijah has attended the YMCA Kindercamp this summer and boy is he having a ball! He has made so many new friends, tried rock climbing and has become a true swimmer! He completed 3 weeks of swim lessons and has really become accustomed to the water. So, needless to say, we spend most of our weekends at the pool.
Lijah begins his 2nd season of soccer on Saturday. This season his team is called the Grasshoppers. I am hoping the weather will cooperate and it won’t be too terribly hot. Luckily, his practice/game starts at 9 am, so it shouldn’t be too bad.
“Dude” Stuff
Definition of a “dude” man: a man or boy. "He's one cool dude." (I actually looked this up in Webster’s)
Oh, the “Cool Dude Club.” Lijah and his Daddy are members of the “Cool Dude Club.” It is so adorable! They love to do “cool dude” stuff together, like working on our cars and the boat, going fishing, playing transformers.
Josh was working on my car a few weeks ago and Lijah was so excited he got to help. Here are a few pictures of cool dudes in action.
Fortunately for me, I have been grandfathered into the “Cool Dude Club” because I am Mama, even though I am a girl (as Lijah puts it).

Bass Fishin’
What else have we been doing this summer…why…Bass Fishin’, of course! How could you live in North Carolina and not love Bass Fishin’!
Many of hours are spent in search of Big Papa James, but only one can find him and that was Joshua! But, Joshua will not end his quest on becoming the “Cool Dude Club Angler of the Year.” Will it be Joshua, Lijah, Papa or Mama…only time will tell!
I hope everyone is enjoying every minute of their summer! We are off to the beach in 1 month for a week, woo hoo! I am sure updates will follow shortly!
