A weekend of "Firsts"

What a fun weekend we had!

Lijah had his last Kindermusik class for the summer session. It was a favorites class, so we got to revisit some of the songs we hadn't done in a while. He got a special present for finishing the class.... sidewalk chalk and stickers. The sidewalk chalk ended up all over his arms and face :)

On Saturday evening, we all headed up the the Legends at Village West for their free concert series. It was a rock n' roll group. The music was really good. Lijah started dancing of course! We noticed the T-Bones still had tickets available for the game that evening so decided to go for it! We got to enjoy about an hour of the game which was about all Lijah could take. For his very first baseball game, we think he did great! He especially enjoyed the hot dog.

Sunday, Josh thought it would be a great idea to visit the zoo. It was Lijah's first trip to the zoo and he had a blast. We were there about 4 hours and he walked the entire time. I thought for a 2 year old he did great! He loved seeing the kangaroos, camels and ducks. He had to see each and every exhibit. He ran with such enthusiasm, it was pretty cute. We have been learning all our animals by reading our zoo book. When we came to the baboon exhibit, I asked him what animal he saw...he replied "daddy" I asked him again and he said "more daddy." Josh thought that was really funny especially since it was in front on a big group of onlookers ;) He then proceeded to tell us that the baboons were Mommy instead of Daddy.

This week is going to be full of more thunderstorms. Lijah tells us about everyday now that he is "scared of rain."

We continue to work with Lijah on his colors. He actually brought me two red spoons yesterday and said "match" so I know he is starting to understand them better. His vocabulary increases daily. He has learned that elephants have trunks and tusks and that giraffes are tall. He amazes me with the match game we play. He actually plays it really well and to our surprise remembers where all the "matches" are.
